While many courtroom clerks are often too busy to interrupt whatthey are doing, David will always be remembered as the perennial friendly clerkwho would immediately swivel in his chair to help no matter what else he hadgoing on. The calendar is tightly controlled and the second courtappearance will sometimes mandates the defendants personal appearance with adate no more than 30 days away. Sentencing offers are much tougherthan they used to be, and they are sometimes withdrawn if not accepted by thesecond court appearance. Failure to accept a proposed disposition bythe second court appearance may trigger an increase on the terms of thesentencing offer.
